25 Hr. Chair Yoga Teacher Training at SJWC

This teacher certification will provide you with a firm foundation and the confidence for teaching all aspects of Chair Yoga
This course is open to everyone who has an interest in modifying a regular yoga class to meet the needs of the senior population or anyone who is experiencing limited mobility and cannot practice on the floor:
yoga teacher trainees
works with seniors
works with physically challenged population
Pre-requisite- You must have at least 10 hours of yoga practice.
* Note - This certificate course in chair yoga qualifies for 25 hours of continuing education credit (for yoga teachers) through Yoga Alliance if you are registered.
In this course you will learn:
The anatomy and body mechanics of aging including health conditions common to seniors such as osteoporosis, arthritis, heart disease, and joint replacement
Practical strategies for adapting a yoga practice for people with limited mobility
How to effectively use props to aid support and balance
Skillful use of pranayama, meditation and relaxation techniques
How to teach yoga in a variety of settings including independent and assisted-living facilities, adult day care centers, and senior centers.

Market yourself effectively to this population
Practicum: You will have the opportunity to team teach a 45-minute chair yoga class.
